this story was told of albert einstein when he was a young student. his
professor asked the class, "did God create everything that
exists?" when one student said yes, the professor went on, " then God created evil; for evil exists." the student was
silent. albert einstein then asked for permission to speak. he asked the
professor " does cold exist?" when the professor
nodded, einstein then went on to say," physics has shown
that cold does not exist. cold is merely the absence of heat. similarly,
darkness does not exist. it is the absence of light. evil also does not exist.
it is merely the absence of God's presence in people's hearts."
